Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption

Children are placed in foster care after enduring abuse, neglect, parental drug use or other issues, and many have experienced significant trauma, grief and loss in their lives.
The priority of the foster care system is to keep families together. But when a judge has ruled that it is unsafe for a child to return to their family of origin, they need someone to step forward to adopt them.

Right now, more than 100,000 children are waiting to be adopted from foster care in the United States. We know that without our help, more than 20,000 kids will age out of foster care this year, putting them at risk for homelessness, unemployment and reentering government systems. We are racing the clock for teenagers like Marisol, Preston, Willie and Bridgett who would have likely aged out without the Foundation’s efforts to get them adopted. Now, instead of being scared and alone, they are surrounded by forever families and even have bedrooms of their own, for the first time.

As our founder, Dave Thomas, always said,
“These children are not someone else’s responsibility. They are our responsibility.”
