Children are placed in foster care through no fault of their own because of abuse or neglect. They deserve a safe, loving and permanent home. The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is the nation’s only public nonprofit charity dedicated to increasing the number of adoptions from North America’s foster care systems.

Our work is urgent because right now more than 100,000 children are waiting to be adopted in the United States and each year 20,000 teenagers age out of the system without being adopted, leaving them at a high risk of homelessness, unemployment and other negative outcomes.

As our founder, Dave Thomas, always said,

“These children are not someone else’s responsibility. They are our responsibility.”
