NRDC Microplastics

NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) is launching a national PSA ad campaign called “Microplastics Are Micromonsters” to raise awareness of the human microplastics risk and help individuals reduce their families’ exposure, starting in Earth Month–April 2026. Researchers at Duke University estimate that plastic-related chemical exposures may cost the United States between $410 billion and $930 billion per year in human health damages. Concerns about the impact of microplastics exposure on health are widespread. A July 2025 national survey found that 9 in 10 Americans are worried about microplastics in the human body, and nearly 8 in 10 very much want guidance on how to reduce their health risk exposure. The NRDC campaign brings the invisible to life through bold, visually arresting characters made from everyday plastic fragments, the “micromonsters” that represent the particles entering our bodies through the products we use every day. Please help us help reduce people’s exposure to microplastics with this important PSA.
